here are some pics from our trip to
florida.
thanksgiving 2003
our first stop was in middleburg to visit
uncle clarke and britt (aka the doolittle
compound).  animals everywhere, it
was a wonderful couple days.  horse,
dogs, deer, sand tortoises, loads of
fancy birds (britt has her own aviary at
the house), crazy spiders, and luckily
no snakes!
then dad, adam, joon, marley, and i
made our way down to englewood to
spend some time with gramma as well
as uncle jon, aunt lisa, ben, and tim
who came down from illinois.  lots of
time at the beach and pool, great
seafood, and a great cookout down at
the beach.  the crew went deep sea
fishing (gramma, marley, and i stayed
behind) and joon and adam were the
only two to catch anything...i wonder if
their fish are still in grammas freezer??
hmm. oh yeah, and the traditional
turkey day stuff too. you can see the
little dude grubbin on his turkey to the
left.  after the jon coates family left, we
took marley to the mote marine
laboratory (great little aquarium) and
as he was in his turtle fascination
stage, he loved it!! they had many big
turtles for him to see. he got so
excited, we thought he might jump in. ;)
then we headed down
to the keys! along the
way we stopped off to
explore the everglades
a little bit.  dad
decided we all needed
to experience an
airboat ride, so he
rented us a private
boat. we saw A LOT of
gators that day. they
like to snack on
marshmellows (?).  the
boat was fast, the
guide was great, and
we all had fun...but the
guys did mention that
if gramma, marley, and
i werent around they
would have, umm,
bumped it up a couple
of notches and gone
looking for the REAL
big ones.
we made it to key largo where dad found a great deal online for
the room. the place turned out to be a really nice resort, so we all
felt very spoiled!  joon and dad did a little snorkeling, but the wind
was up so the vis was down--they had fun anyway.  dad had his
underwater camera around so we took some fun shots of marley
underwater.  people look weird underwater.
we returned to englewood
for one last night at
grammas, one last sunset
on the beach, and one
last seafood dinner. is it
time to go to grammas
again?
